Position Summary:

  1. We are seeking a results-driven and customer-focused Product Manager to join our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) segment, focusing on PEM ’s fastening solutions. As a key member of the SMT commercial team, you will be responsible for the full product lifecycle management of PEM’s SMT product portfolio, Aligned with PEM’s global vision of "Innovation-Driven, Connecting Infinite Possibilities" and PEM ’s position as the global pioneer and leader in self-clinching technology, you will bridge market demands, customer needs, and product development, ensuring our SMT products remain competitive in the Greater China market, particularly serving the automotive electronics, electric vehicle (EV), ADAS, infotainment, and industrial electronics segments.
  2. Your core mission is to drive product innovation, optimize product performance, support design-ins, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, cost-effective SMT fastening solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers, while contributing to revenue growth and market share expansion in the SMT segment.
  3. You will work closely with global R&D, sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams, leveraging PEM’s "In China for China" strategy to tailor products to regional market requirements.

Key Responsibility

1) Product Lifecycle Management
Own the full lifecycle of PEM’s SMT product portfolio, from ideation, development, launch to optimization and retirement, ensuring alignment with global corporate goals and regional market demands. This includes managing standard products and custom solutions for key customers.
Define product specifications, performance standards, and technical requirements, incorporating industry standards (ISO 16232, VDA 19) and customer needs, such as anti-solder overflow, high torque resistance, and compatibility with automated pick-and-place assembly processes.
Collaborate with R&D and local manufacturing teams to drive product development, technical customization, and process optimization, ensuring on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality standards.

2) Market & Customer Insight

Conduct in-depth market research and customer needs analysis for the Greater China SMT segment, monitoring industry trends (miniaturization, integration, energy efficiency, high-density PCB assembly) and customer pain points (PCB damage, low assembly efficiency, scrap reduction).

Gather and analyze customer feedback, sales data, and market intelligence to identify product improvement opportunities and new product ideas, prioritizing initiatives based on business value, customer demand, and technical feasibility.

Build strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders, acting as the voice of the customer to drive product decisions and ensure customer satisfaction.

    3) Competitive Analysis & Product Strategy
    Perform comprehensive competitive analysis, evaluating competitors’ SMT product portfolios, pricing models, technical features, and market positioning. Identify PEM’s core competitive advantages and gaps, optimizing our product portfolio and go-to-market strategies accordingly.
    Develop and execute product strategies and roadmaps for the SMT segment, aligning with the Business Development Director’s growth targets. Define short-term and long-term product priorities, including new product launches, product upgrades, and cost optimization initiatives.
    Monitor product performance metrics (sales volume, market share, customer adoption, profitability) and adjust strategies based on changing market conditions and business objectives.

    4) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
    Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop targeted sales materials, technical presentations, datasheets, and marketing campaigns tailored to the SMT segment. Support lead generation, customer engagement, and design-in initiatives by providing technical expertise and product training.
    Work with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure product consistency, resolve production-related issues, and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
    Facilitate technology transfer between global and local teams, ensuring advanced SMT technologies and best practices are effectively adopted in the Greater China market. Collaborate with global Product Management teams to align regional product roadmaps with global strategies.

    5) Documentation & Compliance
    Develop and maintain accurate product documentation, including datasheets, technical specifications, user guides, and compliance documents, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and industry standards.
    Track and report product performance, development progress, and market feedback to the Business Development Director and global leadership team, providing regular insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

    Requirements:

    1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.

    2) Minimum 8+ years of product management experience in the SMT, automotive electronics, or industrial fasteners industry, with proven experience in managing physical products (preferably SMT components or fasteners). Experience working with global industrial or fastening brands is highly preferred.

    3) Deep understanding of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes, PCB assembly, and SMT fastening solutions. Familiarity with automotive electronics, EV, or ADAS applications is a plus.

    4) Strong product lifecycle management skills, with experience in new product development, product optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.

    5) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to drive product decisions.

    6) Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to prepare technical documentation, deliver presentations, and collaborate effectively with global and regional teams.

    7) Self-driven, results-oriented, and able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Strong team spirit and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
