Job Title: Salesforce QA Tester
Location: Bangalore, India
Position Summary:
Penn Engineering is seeking a Salesforce QA Tester responsible for manual functional and regression testing of Salesforce configurations, Flows, Apex, and integrations, with an opportunity to grow into test automation.
Key Responsibility:
- Write, maintain, and execute test cases and test scripts from user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional designs.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, negative, and end-to-end testing across Salesforce configuration, Flows, Apex-backed features, and integrated systems.
- Test declarative configuration thoroughly: validation rules, record types, page layouts, approval processes, sharing and visibility rules, permission sets, and profile-based access.
- Test Flows in depth — screen flows, record-triggered flows, scheduled flows and subflows — including entry criteria, decision branches, fault paths, and bulk behaviour.
- Validate Apex-backed functionality from the business side: triggers, batch and scheduled jobs, and asynchronous processing, including bulk and governor-limit scenarios.
- Review Apex test results and code coverage with developers, and flag gaps between unit test coverage and real business scenarios.
- Own and continuously improve the regression test suite; keep it current as the org changes and prune tests that no longer earn their keep.
- Build and maintain test data — using Data Loader, Data Import Wizard, or scripted setup — and keep sandboxes in a usable, refreshable state.
- Log clear, reproducible defects with steps, expected vs. actual results, environment, and evidence; triage severity with the BA and developers and verify fixes.
- Support User Acceptance Testing: prepare scripts and data for business users, run sessions, capture findings, and help drive sign-off.
- Perform release readiness and smoke testing across sandbox and production deployments, including post-deployment verification.
- Test each Salesforce seasonal release in a preview sandbox and report any impact to existing functionality.
- Contribute to test automation — building and maintaining automated regression scripts as we expand coverage.
- Track and report quality metrics: test execution progress, defect trends, coverage, and escaped defects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of QA or software testing experience, with at least 1–2 years testing on the Salesforce platform.
- Hands-on experience testing Salesforce declarative configuration — validation rules, record types, page layouts, approval processes, permission sets, and sharing rules.
- Demonstrated experience testing Salesforce Flows, including branching logic, fault handling, and bulk record behaviour.
- Practical understanding of Apex from a tester's perspective: what triggers, batch jobs, and asynchronous processing do, how governor limits surface as defects, and how to read Apex test results and coverage.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud objects and processes — leads, accounts, opportunities, products and price books, quotes, and forecasting.
- Solid grasp of the Salesforce data model and the sharing and visibility model, and the ability to design test cases per persona and permission set.
- Experience writing test cases, executing test cycles, and managing defects in a tool such as Jira, Azure DevOps, qTest, or TestRail.
- Ability to write SOQL queries to verify data outcomes, and comfort with Data Loader or a similar tool for test data setup.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum sprints, including sprint testing and release cycles.
- Strong attention to detail and clear written English — your defect reports should be reproducible without a follow-up conversation.
- Salesforce Certified Administrator, or the willingness to earn it within the first six months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience testing Salesforce Revenue Cloud — CPQ, product and pricing rules, quote and approval flows, contracts, orders, or billing. Exposure to Revenue Cloud Advanced (formerly Revenue Lifecycle Management) is a strong plus.
- Experience testing Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud — sales agreements, account-based forecasting, run-rate business, or rebate management.
- Experience testing integrations, including API or middleware testing with Postman, and validating Salesforce–ERP data flows (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).
- Understanding of quote-to-cash end to end and the handoffs into ERP for fulfilment, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
- Familiarity with Salesforce release and environment management — sandbox strategy, change sets, or a DevOps tool such as Copado or Gearset — and with CI-triggered test execution.
- Exposure to performance, security, or accessibility testing on the Salesforce platform.
- Additional credentials such as Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder, Business Analyst, or an ISTQB Foundation certification.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or B2B distribution business.
Key Competencies:
- Salesforce Functional & Regression Testing
- Testing Flows, Apex & Integrations
- Test Case Design & Execution
- Defect Tracking & Release Validation
- Salesforce Sales / Revenue / Manufacturing Cloud
- Test Automation – learning/growth mindset
