PEM® China: Leading the Way in Sustainable Innovation
At PEM® China, sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do. By integrating environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors into our operations, we are deeply committed to sustainable development, mobilizing resources and investing in environmentally friendly projects that make a lasting impact. Below we will dive into three ways we are investing in environmentally friendly projects for the future.
Green Energy Utilization: Powering Our Future with Clean Energy
Harnessing green energy is a key part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. By utilizing 2,865 MWh of green energy, we have achieved a reduction of 1,634 tons of CO₂ emissions. This was accomplished by installing solar cells on our building’s roof, and by strategically purchasing green energy certificates, which allow us to source dedicated green energy from our electricity provider. These efforts not only help us cut emissions, but also support the broader transition to a cleaner energy future.
Waste Reuse Project: Innovating Water Reuse to Cut Pollution
Reducing water waste and minimizing environmental impact are central to our sustainability efforts. Our plating line traditionally produces hydrochloric acid waste that would be neutralized and discharged. However, we’ve now implemented a process to repurpose this waste for degreasing wastewater treatment instead of using sulfuric acid. This shift not only saves 9.6 tons of sulfuric acid, and 3.9 tons of alkali annually but also significantly reduces water pollution, aligning with our goal of more sustainable water management.
Waste Reduction Project: Cutting Hazardous Waste with Smarter Processes
Minimizing hazardous waste is another critical component of our sustainability strategy. By adopting a new low-temperature drying process for sludge, we are reducing hazardous waste by 120 tons annually. This innovation not only addresses the challenges of sludge disposal but also lowers our disposal costs, reinforcing our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and operational expenses.
